Making of Equinox Glow
Equinox Glow was inspired by the luminous geometry of southern Spain’s Islamic architecture — especially the Mosque–Cathedral of Córdoba — and its quiet sense of ascent. Islamic Geometry and its illusion to the infinte was compelling.
I translated that feeling into cloth using itajime shibori on 3.5m of silk organza in warm autumnal colours, with the brightest yellows lightly degummed to heighten their glow. Through repeated folding and clamping, geometric panes emerge that tip toward the psychedelic as light shifts.
Hung high to catch daylight, the piece reads like stained glass — transparent, changing, and gently uplifting.
In a season that asks us to start slowing down, I’m exploring how natural colour and light can offer warmth and peace.
