Shibori Indigo Masterclass — with Rhyannan Hall

Immerse yourself in the refined art of Japanese shibori with a rigorous, small-group masterclass. You’ll go far beyond ‘tie-dye,’ building authentic skills to create genuine shibori resist—no shortcuts, no half measures. I’ll teach you how to properly apply and master shibori resist for strong, consistent results, so your work stands apart from imitation techniques.

Learn about the mechanisms at play in shibori that make for crisp, repeatable patterns, and hone your technique with direct, tailored feedback throughout the day. With teaching textiles and resource books sourced firsthand from Japan, you’ll access not only authentic materials but also the artistic heritage passed directly from master artisans. With a small class size of only 4 participants, no question will go unanswered.

Why Learn with Me?
As a practitioner endorsed by shibori legend Yoshiko Wada (author of the seminal global shibori text “Shibori: The Inventive Art of Shaped-Resist Dyeing), I draw on direct experiences with the Japanese master Hayakawa-San and the internationally celebrated Ana-Lisa Hedstrom. My work has been exhibited at the Toyama Art and Design in Japan, and at the Japanese Embassy in London, and alongside the work of Hayakawa-san and Hedstrom in Japan. You will receive expert and internationally recognised instruction.

Reserve your spot — places are strictly limited to ensure each attendee receives full support and attention throughout the day.
